Gingerbread village exhibition at Jelgava Palace

From 12th to 23rd December a “Gingerbread village” exhibition takes place at the Jelgava Palace Museum. All the object at the exhibition are made by LLY students. The museum is open every working day until Christmas.

In December at the heart of Jelgava Palace no one is left indifferent by the smell of gingerbread which were made at the palace cellars by LLU students and professors. Houses, cars, trees and roads made from gingerbread dough covered with snow-white icing attracts both the little ones as well as adults. 

Gingerbread products exhibition is a tradition created seven years ago by an Associate Professor from Faculty of Food Technology Daiga Kunkulberga. Each year this tradition brings a very special festive mood into LLU.

This year exhibition is a collaborative work of students from different faculties –Faculty of Environment and Civil Engineering draw and made sketches, Faculty of Food Technology prepared the necessary parts from gingerbread dough and linked them all together with sugar icing. Students from Faculty of Engineering took part in exhibiting the items in the museum and added some lighting to the exhibits, Forest Faculty students took care of the museums Christmas trees ornaments.

Visitors will have the opportunity to vote on the item in the exhibition which “fell into” their hearts.

The exhibition will also be open to the guest of the Jelgava Palace Christmas ball on the night of December 17th.
