Illuminating of the Academic Path of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies
On November 18, everyone belonging to the LLU family - a student, employee, graduate and cooperation partner - is invited to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Latvia and participate in the campaign “Illuminate the LLU Academic Path” by lighting candles on to the south side entrance of the Jelgava palace.
Since this year we will not have the opportunity to meet each other at the Independence Day Concert, Relay race "Lāpa" and Lāčplēsis Day Torch Parade, which were usually the most important November events at the university, lighting the LLU Academic Path allows to “meet” through candlelight and celebrate Latvia’s Independence Day together.
LLU Academic Path is a historical road that leads from Lielā iela to Jelgava Palace and is currently used only by pedestrians. Since 2012, a special memorial plaque has been laid by freshmen every September, thus symbolizing the beginning of studies, the commitment to study well, to hold the honor of one's higher education institution high and to become a place to meet after graduation.
On November 18 this year, the Academic Path will be a place for all of us to meet. Candle lighting is planned from 16.30, but it will be possible to supplement it with new candle flames throughout the evening.
