LLU is included in the prestigious THE Emerging Economies ranking

In October 2021, the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies ranking 2022 was published, including only those countries with developing economies. Among them are also named Latvian universities of science, including LLU, which ranks among the 600 best universities.

The Times Higher Education ranking evaluates research-active universities from around the world using several criteria in five areas of activity: studies (study environment), science (volume, income, reputation), citation (impact of science), international profile (teachers, students, research) and income from industry (knowledge transfer). The 13 criteria measure the achievements of universities and include only the best universities in the world.

The top three in the latest ranking of emerging economies are again held by universities from China - Peking University, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University. However, in total, 698 higher education and research institutions from various countries of the developing world meet the quality requirements of the ranking, which is more of 92 higher education institutions than last year.

LLU has won a place in the group 500+ and gained the highest results in indicator “knowledge transfer” similarly to the previous year. As the number of universities included in the ranking has significantly increased this year, LLU has changed the ranking group, but has improved some indicators compared to previous years. The increase is observed in the criteria "studies" and "international profile".

LLU's inclusion in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking indicates the university's international recognition and competitiveness on a much larger scale, which continues to grow significantly every year. In addition, for the third year in a row, the university retains its place in THE ranking of all countries of the world, as well as in the thematic rankings of engineering, life sciences and social sciences.
