Teaching Staff of LLU Faculty of Economics and Social Development Discuss Opportunities in Istanbul to Develop Waste Management Skills in Food Businesses

On 15-17 December  2021, the LLU ESAF team of the Erasmus + project “Go Zero-Zero Waste Management in Food Sector” visited Istanbul.

The project meeting was organized by the Turkish partners of the project and it aimed at promoting the active involvement of food business operators in waste reduction processes by developing training content and methodologies based on the latest scientific and professional approaches.

Project meeting was organized by the Istanbul Directorate of Urbanization and the Environment, the event was attended by officials and senior executives from the Ministry, as well as researchers from Bogaziči University and other project partner organizations from Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Lithuania.

Currently, in the active phase of the project, researchers are jointly developing professional training courses that will be modular and provide training for employees in various food sectors on the implementation of sustainable business practices using the latest approaches in waste management. The approbation of the content of the developed training programs will be performed with the involvement of both lecturers and researchers, as well as food industry experts. The educational materials will also be available on the e-platform, which is planned to be developed in the next phase of the project.

Project implementation period: 31.12.2020 to 29.06.2023.
