As Latvia's national holidays are not far behind the hills, feelings of patriotism are rising, as a sense of community and pride in the beauty of our land. In honor of heroes, who allowed us to live in an independent country, and who had selflessly sacrificed to protect it. On Lāčplēša Day and the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Latvia, we invite all students belonging to the Latvian University of Applied Sciences and Technologies - LBTU family, employees, graduates, and cooperation partners - to appreciate the freedom of this country by lighting light in your heart and pinning a ribbon of the color of the Latvian flag to your dress.

At the beginning of the week of patriotism, on Lāčpleša day, November 11, remembering Latvia's freedom struggles and honoring the soldiers, we invite you to join the Jelgava City torchlight procession. The path of candles will lead from O. Kalpaka Street to the monument to the liberators of Jelgava, stopping at O. Kalpaka and Svētes Streets. The start of the march at 18.00

Continuing the traditions of the University and commemorating the country's patriots on November 15 at 18.00 students are invited to participate in the "Torch" Olympics, which will take place for the 50th time, in the courtyard of Jelgava Palace. During it, the fastest team will be determined and awarded after the sporting sprint!

In honor of International Student Day and the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, on November 16 at 17.00 LBTU Hall will be resounding with students' songs and dances in the concert "Zemgale students celebration" proudly celebrating our students' light dance steps and harmonious sound of songs. At the concert all present will be delighted by university students, graduates, teaching staff, and artistic collectives of LBTU - TDA "Kalve" and VPDK "Kalve" who will perform the most beautiful and heart-warming dances. In addition, LBTU women's choir "Liepa" and men's choir "Ozols" will indulge in emotionally charged performances with the "holiday" theme. Jelgava student theater will delight with a theatrical performance.

In addition, on the evening of November 18, we invite you to participate in the illumination of Jelgava Castle Park, continuing the campaign "Lighting up the LBTU Academic Road." During the campaign, everyone is welcome to place their brought candle next to an ornament or create their own, meet by candlelight and celebrate Latvia's birthday. With the most beautiful and heartfelt Latvian songs playing. The lighting of candles is planned from 17.00, after which you can continue to illuminate Jelgava Palace Park with new candle flames throughout the evening.

Let's honor the heroes of the past together and in return remember that all great deeds consist of small daily actions performed by each of us! Long live Latvia!
