May offers multiple conferences organized by Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) in 2023.

From May 10th to 26th, Latvian and foreign scientists, industry professionals, and policymakers will gather at the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies LBTU in Jelgava, both in person and online, to share the latest research findings and discuss future activities in the economy, society and personal development, education, food science, rural development, and engineering within several international conferences.

The conference "Economic Science for Rural Development 2023" is organized by the Faculty of Economics and Society Development during the International Week from May 10th to 12th. The main topics of the conference will focus on sustainable bioeconomy and bioresources, rural development, circular economy, entrepreneurship, climate change, environmental aspects, as well as new dimensions in social development, production process efficiency, business competitiveness, and other current topics. In addition, from May 11th to 12th, the Faculty of Food Technology will organize the Baltic Food Science and Technology Conference "Foodbalt 2023", which is an annual event held by representatives from the three Baltic countries - Kaunas University of Technology, Tallinn University of Technology and LBTU. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to listen to keynote lectures on topics such as trends in the development of new food products and technologies, evaluation of by-products, unconventional ingredients and food waste, consumer food choices, and challenges in nutritional science.

It is planned to hold an international scientific conference "Rural Environment. Education. Personality REEP-2023" on May 12 on the online platform "Zoom", which is traditionally organized by the Faculty of Engineering. The conference will present research on current issues in pedagogy and highlight the main trends in education, seek solutions to problems in school, university, and adult education, as well as analyze competency development, design and craftsmanship, sustainable development of education, career and vocational education.

From May 17 to 18, an international conference "Research for Rural Development 2023 / Zinātne lauku attīstībai 2023" is expected to take place. Its topics will cover a wide range of issues: biosciences - sustainable and climate-smart research and management of natural resources (including agricultural sciences - crop farming, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, "safe" food, forestry, etc.), engineering sciences - sustainable technology and innovation for resource management (including agriculture, rural and environmental engineering, landscape architecture, water management, food science, information and communication technologies in woodworking, etc.), as well as social sciences - research and management for sustainable bioeconomy and smart spatial development (including agricultural economics, regional development, land use planning, education, etc.).

On the other hand, the conference cycle will conclude with the International Scientific Conference "Engineering for Rural Development / Inženierzinātne lauku attīstībai", which will take place from May 24 to 26 at the Faculty of Engineering. The conference is planned to be held in several thematic sections, including agricultural machinery and technology, control systems and CAD, CAE, BIM technologies, engineering economics and education, fuels, transportation and logistics, materials science, SEG emissions and waste management, modeling and simulation, renewable and traditional energy, and other engineering and technology research.
