Environmental education and research are topical and have been gaining increased public awareness. The assessments of climate change, water protection, reduction of soil and air pollution are the issues that require scientists in the field of environmental engineering.

Academic profile

The aim of the doctoral study programme is to prepare highly qualified specialists for scientific research, organizational and academic work in the environmental engineering and water management. The acquired knowledge enables problem solving opportunities within the interdisciplinary environmental issues.

The following research areas are offered in the study programme:

  • Soil water balance and modelling of hydrological processes;
  • Assessment of agricultural run-off quality, measures for the pollution control and mitigation;
  • Greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions;
  • Wastewater management;
  • Rainwater management;
  • Protection of cities against the flooding.

Admission requirements

Master’s degree in Environmental Science or Water Management.
Applicants with background in other field need to pass an entrance exam in Environmental Engineering.
English knowledge: minimum - IELTS score 6.0, TOEFL score 547, TOEFL-iBT score 76.


Career prospects

Graduates of the doctoral degree studies are entitled to work in the field of environment in higher education institutions, research institutes (scientific institutions) and private organizations.
