Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (Reg. No. 90000041898) announces an open international tender for the vacant full-time tenure professor of science (associate professor, professor) positions (7 vacancies) in the following fields od science:

  1. Field of Electrical engineering, electronics, Information and communication technologies Science, sub-sector of System analysis, modelling and design with the topic "Artificial intelligence solutions for precision agriculture".
  2. Field of Agriculture and Fisheries Science, Forestry, sub-sector of Agriculture with the topic "Research of the basic resources of the Bioeconomy - land, soil, water - to ensure sustainable use and reduce pollution".
  3. Agriculture and Fisheries Science, the field of Forestry Science, sub-sector of Forest ecology and forestry with the topic "Sustainability approach in forestry".
  4. Other engineering sciences and technologies including science branch of food and beverage technology with the topic "Technology for sustainable development".
  5. Field of Veterinary Medicine Science, sub-sector of Surgery with the topic "Veterinary Orthopaedics".
  6. Field of Environmental Engineering and Energetics Science, sub-sector of Agricultural engineering with topic "Alternative energy vehicles".
  7. Environmental Engineering and Energetics Science, sub-sector of Environmental Engineering with topic "Sustainable solutions in environmental engineering".

Requirements for applicants:

  • Doctor of Science;
  • Hirsch index at least 10;
  • Experience in the management of international and/or national level projects;
  • Impeccable reputation;
  • Knowledge of English and Latvian at least level C1;
  • Research activity plan for the next 6 years, divided into 2-year periods, evenly foreseeing the following achievable indicators:
  • prognosis for the attraction of financing (at least 0,7 million EUR);
  • Q1 and Q2 quartile publications in journals indexed in Scopus/Web of Science databases;
    • highly qualified lecturing, supervision of studies, lectures and tests;
    • management of research works in the science sub-sector;
    • management of doctoral level study and research works in the science sub-sector;
    • participation in the quality evaluation of study programs, universities and their departments;
    • coaching new generation of scientists and lecturers.

Responsibilities of the applicant according to the submitted research plan for the next 6 years:

  • Preparation and management of research projects, including attraction of funding;
  • Implementation of research in the relevant sector/sub-sector of science;
  • Publications in Q1 and Q2 quartile journals indexed in Scopus/Web of Science databases;
  • Ensuring international cooperation in the relevant scientific sector/sub-sector;
  • Management of doctoral students;
  • 0.25 study workload;
  • Development of a research group.

Applicant/-s must submit an application addressed to the Rector regarding participation in the tender. Applicants must submit document copies certifying higher education and necessary scientific/academic degrees (if higher education, scientific/academic degree was obtained abroad, applicant must submit certificate that indicates to which degree or diploma awarded in Latvia corresponds diploma obtained abroad - the examination and comparison of diplomas obtained abroad is carried out by the Academic Information Centre). Applicants must submit CV (Curriculum Vitae), which indicates scientific, pedagogical and organizational work experience, a list of published scientific works in the last 6 (six) years.

Salary for a full-time job is 5000 EUR before tax that includes 0.25 study workload, additional material motivation according to the achieved results in studies and performance in science.
