The objectives of the research are cow and goat milk, metabolism, stability, antimicrobial properties in digestion.
The goals of the project are:
1. to explore the new methods of antimicrobial compounds’ analysis for milk.
2. to evaluate the location, seasonal and climatic effects on the antimicrobial properties of cow and goat milk, ensuring monitoring within 1 year in both countries.
3. to obtain results on the effect of gastrointestinal enzymes on the hydrolysis of proteins.

Norwegian University of Life Sciences has a several projects where the objective is a significant research of milk quality and properties (see https://www.nmbu.no/finn/innhold/field_prosjekt_institutt/KBM-165/type/prosjekt) including milk proteins. Norway partner has a specific and modern lab equipment which would be importantly useful for this project and gain the scientifically based results. The opportunity for student (PhD and postdoc) mobility means the opportunity to acquire new knowledge/understanding about analytical methods and equipment.
Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies conducts research on the composition and properties of goat's milk, both in terms of casein gene polymorphism and milk coagulation properties, regularities (composition, breed, feed, etc.).
The mobility of Norwegian academic staff will be important to participate in the research phase, when milk samples are processed through the GIT (gastrointestinal tract) digestion system where they will gain more knowledge and experience of this process. Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies has participated in several projects where in vitro digestion was used and the results obtained were important information that allowed to better understand the properties of the product.

The synergy between Latvia and Norway (https://heinnovate.eu/en/resource/internationalisation-integral-part-heis-entrepreneurial-agenda# ) will make this project more significant, and the results will allow to better understand the milk properties, as well as to strength collaboration and project application preparation for the project calls. In addition, the advantages of mobility will be negotiations about common projects, PhD thesis supervision, as well as PhD course organisation in thematic on milk protein research.
