LBTU Strenghtens International Cooperation

This study year starts for  12 new double degree Uzbek students who are studying bachelors in the program Information Technologies for sustainabe development. Students came from Samarkand branch of Tashkent State University of Economics  (SbTSUE) finished two courses in their university and now they will continue other half of their studies, here in Latvia.

“Cooperation between us and Uzbekistans universities has been evolving since 2016 and we are happy to say that 4 years later together with 10 other universities we have managed to launch the double degree programms.” Says Viktorija Krištopane the Chief Specialist in organization of international double degree programs.

The programs are implemented on the basis of an agreement between the higher education institutions, determining the procedure for the implementation of the said programs.

The curriculum of double degree programs is partly implemented at the partner university and partly at LBTU. The distribution of the volume of training and the procedure for recruitment are determined in the inter-university agreement.

The defence of the final thesis takes place at LBTU, which is the basis for receiving an EU-recognised diploma, while the partner university recognizes the results of the defence of the thesis and issues the diploma of the partner university.

 “The cooperation doesn’t end with just a double degree program. In fact we are offering such programs as “Trainings for Trainers”” says Viktorija. Program focuses on raising qualification through courses for the academic personal and streinghtening the cooperation.

“We are very happy to receive our guests, share our knowledge and show the same hospitality they showed us when LBTU was participating education fairs and other projects!” LBTU was presenting its study programmes in fairs all over Uzbekistan, giving presentations and showing off our research in universities, schools and gymnasiums “As of this moment we have 14 of their students and we are very optimistic to welcome more.”
