Everything we do takes place in the space and time of the Earth, both in planning activities and in implementing them and evaluating the results. Therefore, the acquisition of spatial information and the ability to use this information effectively is essential. Engineers who know geospatial data acquisition and processing technologies, as well as know how to develop various types of geospatial solutions, are in great demand in various sectors of the economy.

Abstract

Professional Bachelor's Study Programme “Geoinformatic and Remote Sensing” is designed to obtain knowledge and skills of information technology tools, application of remote sensing technologies and development of geospatial solutions in:

  • agriculture,
  • forestry,
  • transport logistics,
  • land spatial administration,
  • crisis management spatial organization.

Students get a professional, practice-oriented education that gives them the opportunity to enter the labour market, as well as to carry out scientific research work, which would allow graduates to start practical activities in geoinformatics and remote sensing after completing the study program in the field of agriculture, forestry, transport logistics, land spatial administration and crisis management spatial organization.

Career Opportunities

Graduates are specialists that develop geospatial solutions in various national economy sectors, like:

  • agriculture,
  • forestry,
  • transport logistics,
  • land spatial administration,
  • crisis management spatial organization.

You’ll find graduates in government, in big companies, startups, and small and mid-size enterprises.

Aim of the studies

The aim of the study program is to ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in geoinformatics and remote sensing for application in agriculture, forestry, transport logistics, land spatial administration, and spatial organization of crisis management so that a specialist who has obtained the qualification of an engineer can successfully integrate into the Latvian and global labour market, as well as the develop research skills for further studies in master's degree program.
