LLU mathematicians implements cooperation with the Lithuanian and Belarusian universities

On the 9th of December the academic staff of the Department of Mathematics – Head of the Department Ilze Jēgere, Professor Aivars Āboltiņš and lecturer-researcher Anna Vintere – went on a business trip to Aleksandras Stulginskis University (Lithuania) to form a tripartite cooperation between the mathematicians and researchers of the Latvian University of Agriculture, Aleksandras Stulginskis University and International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University.

Partners agreed that the aim of co-operation is to promote the economic and social development in the whole cross-border region by addressing common issues, including the promotion of employment as well as promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.

In order to promote the three university expertise of world-class scientific research programs, development of human capital and scientific excellence, it is planned to create Scientific data centers in all partner countries, which will include not only research programs but also strategic cooperation with the business sector, with the aim of educating new professionals for the environmental, agricultural and ecological data analysis technologies. Partners plan to work together on standard-setting of a new profession – Data Analyst.

LLU mathematicians plans to develop two new courses - statistical modeling engineers and Applied multivariate techniques and these courses will be offered to both LLU local as well as foreign students. International inter-university courses will be both in Latvian and English, as well as in Russian - e-learning, as for Belarusian students these courses will be offered as optional.

By continuing the cooperation, partner universities will develop inter-university courses whose topics will include three different directions - work with the transformation of  unstructured data into structure information, data analysis software as well as databases and work with different data.
