Prospective builders gain experience in glass construction company
On the December 12th LLU Faculty of Environment and Civil Engineering study program “Construction” second-year students went to an interesting field trip to the glass construction production company SIA UPPE to gain knowledge and understanding on glass construction and its production process.
Company board member Aldis Cimermanis for many years has worked in the Department of Architecture and Construction as a guest lecturer thereby study work and conducting classes for students is not unfamiliar to him. During the trip firstly students were introduced to the glass construction theoretical aspects and afterwards students had the opportunity to improve their practical skills and assemble the constructions. It was a great, interesting and exciting opportunity for students to work in company’s premises.
During the trip students had the chance to make structural assemblies which further can be used in the study process at the university.
The Department of Architecture and Construction thanks to SIA UPPE for the cooperation in the education of students and support in the organization of field trips.
