In LBTU Jelgava, graduations take place twice a year, after each study semester, but the summer graduations, when the study year ends, are the most crowded. Graduations differ in the special traditions of each faculty, about which students are informed in their faculty, and graduations are usually attended not only by graduates and university teaching staff, but also by families and friends of graduates, who have the opportunity to welcome the young specialists during the festive event and enjoy its progress. Usually, the solemn ceremony lasts from one to two hours, which is followed by a photo session in the historic courtyard of Jelgava Palace.

Traditionally, students of all LBTU faculties, who have obtained a bachelor's or master's degree, wear robes and caps at graduations, while graduates of higher level studies (masters) use scarves matching the colours of the faculty. Graduates of first-level study programs do not have a uniform academic dress and use formal, ceremonial clothing.

Useful information for prom guests:

For the convenience of guests, a large free parking lot is available behind Jelgava Palace. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the city of Jelgava has started large-scale renovation works, which are expected to clean up the degraded areas on Pilssalas Street in 2023. Pedestrians and motorists should take into account that during the repair works, difficult conditions may occur when moving along Jelgava Palace.

LBTU Hall, where all graduations take place, is located on the 2nd floor of the South wing of the palace. To get there, please follow the signs in the palace courtyard. On the other hand, there is an elevator for guests with mobility impairments, which is accessible from the yard (the detailed location is indicated by the diagrams near the building). With its help, it is possible to get to the foyer of the Hall by pressing the button on the 2nd floor.

Welcoming graduates during graduation is organized in groups, when diplomas have been issued to several graduates. Graduation guests are invited to greet their graduates after the invitation of the graduation leader.

Although there are more than 400 seats in the LBTU Hall, the graduations of some faculties, which have more than 100 graduates, do not have enough seats for all the guests. However, in front of the Hall there is a spacious foyer that can be used for relaxation and waiting and where the graduation will be played. It is especially useful for parents with small children, for whom the prom is too long and want to get out and about.
